Navoi Region

Zarafshan is an ancient tributary of the Amu Darya, originates on the Zarafshan ridge, feeding on the meltwater of the Zarafshan glacier. It flows through the territory of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In the north-west of Uzbekistan creates a unique oasis, in the valley of which the city of Samarkand is located. It passes through the arid territories of Kattakurgan and Navoi, turns to the southwest of the country, carrying its waters through the cities of Bukhara and Karakul. It ends its journey in the desert, a little before reaching the ancient mouth of the Amu Darya.

The religious complex “Chasma” includes the mosque “Djuma”, the spring, the mosque Panjvakta and bathouse "khamom". The round Djuma mosque was constructed above the spring and has 40 columns. The dome, 16 meters in diameter is one of the largest in the Central Asia. The complex was build on the foot of the Nur Fort build by Alexander the Great.
