Attock

Attock is a district-scale threshold inside Punjab, where the Potohar Plateau breaks toward the Indus. Fort walls, road and rail crossings, fields, dry hills and service towns make it a practical hinge between Rawalpindi, Peshawar and the plains.

Islamabad International Airport

After Pakistan's independence, a portion of the Chaklala air base was allocated to provide travel facilities for residents of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and the surrounding Pottohar area. However, as the number of domestic and international travelers increased over time, the small terminal at the airbase, later named Benazir Bhutto International Airport, proved insufficient to meet the growing demand.
