Cultural Site

The Maldybaev Opera and Ballet Theater, located on Abdrakhmanov Street in the Sverdlovsk district of Bishkek, opened in 1937 in Bishkek as a Musical Drama Theater. During his long career, a large number of performances have been staged at the Maldybayev Opera and Ballet Theater. The architectural style of the main building of the theater is the embodiment of classics in the best traditions of ancient Greek urban planning. The Kyrgyz Theater has never limited its activities to stationary work, actively strengthened and expanded ties with the theatrical art of other peoples.

On the edge of the world, among the vast expanses of the Alichur-Yug Range, there is a small farm, modestly and mysteriously called Jarti-Gumbez. This is a place where time stands still and history whispers its secrets through the centuries.

Archaeologists have come to the conclusion that Jarti-Gumbez was home to generations of people long before our era, back in the Bronze Age. They have unearthed evidence of the Scythian era that has left its mark on the land. We can only imagine what stories and destinies each stone, each object discovered under the layer of time hides.

Muynak was once an oasis where fishing flourished and the Aral Sea was one of the largest salt lakes in the world. Since the 60s of the last century, the sea has been regularly drained by man, in order to change the direction of the rivers for the irrigation of the fields. 

As a result of this activity, the sea began to die off, exposing the land to a lot of dust and toxic chemicals. The rusting remains of the ships are a landmark that clearly shows the sad consequences of the unreasonable treatment of the Aral Sea. 

This building is considered the tallest in all of Central Asia - the Tashkent TV Tower is 375 meters high, and its long sky-piercing spire can be seen from all corners of the city. About a hundred meters above sea level in the TV tower there is an observation deck, and one level higher are the halls of the restaurant, from where it is possible not only to admire the panoramic views from the windows, but also have lunch.

Kohi Navruz (Kori Nowruz or Noruz Palace) was designed as a teahouse, but during construction it was transformed into a palace. "Kohi Navruz" consists of 12 unusual rooms, each of them is made in a special style. The complex has an art room, a banquet hall, a living room with carved stone moldings, a plaster room decorated with mirrors, two rooms for important political meetings. In total, the building can accommodate more than 3,200 people.

The products of the silk-weaving factory "Jodgorlik" have rightfully earned world fame. The company operates not only for the domestic market, but also for export to Europe, Russia, Korea and other countries. The Jodgorlik factory was opened in 1972. From the moment of the opening of the enterprise to the present day, the ancient secrets of fabric production are carefully kept here and the skill of craftsmen is honored. Previously, the factory was state-owned, now it is a private enterprise engaged in hand-made silk using traditional technologies.
