Hatan, also known as Hotan, is a city in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. This city is located in the southern part of the region and is an important cultural and historical center for Uyghur culture.

Ancient Times: Khatan has ancient historical roots and is one of the oldest cities in the Xinjiang Uyghur region. In different historical periods, cultures and empires such as Qin, Han, Sogd and others passed through here.

Karakul lake (Xinjiang)

The Karakul lake (black lake) is situated 200 km from Kashgar in Xinjiang province. The lake is surrounded by the famous snow-covered peak "Muztag Ata" 7546 m. and other 7000's like the Kongur Tagh (7649 m.) and the Kongur Tiube (7530 m.). Start place for a 4 days trek routes to the Muztag Ata BC.

The city of Kashgar is in the far NW China, west of the Taklamakan desert at the foot of the Tian Shan range. The oasis of Kashgar is an important crossroads of trade routes from the North, West, from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. It is also located at the northern end of the Karakorum highway that takes the Khunjerab Pass connects Kashgar to the city of Islamabad in Pakistan.
