Historically, Andijan was an important city on the Silk Road. Zharkent is a small town of about 40'000 inhabitants, mostly Uyghurs (53%) and Kazakhs (38%) situated around 30 km from the Chinese border on the road Almaty-Horgos A353.
Zharkent's history dates back centuries. Formerly, the city was one of the fortified points of the Great Silk Road, as evidenced by archaeological finds. Historians claim that it was in these regions that the battles of the Dzungars with the Kazakhs took place.
Istaravshan is one of the largest ancient cities in the world since its founding in the 6th century BC. The Persian king Cyrus of the Achaemenid dynasty (529-559 BC) called the new city in his honor, Kurush Kada which is located in northern Tajikistan, in the foothills of the Turkestan Range, at an altitude of about 1000 meters above sea level. In 2002, the city celebrated 2500 years. An interesting fact of the story is that Alexander the Great was wounded for the first time during the conquest of this city.

Kara-Balta is located 62 km from Bishkek.
The city has a rich history. She was called Shish-Debe, Shish-Tepe. But the best known of names is Nuzket. Kara-Balta (Nuzket) was one of the most important centers on the Silk Road and the largest industrial crossroads in the Chui region. The town was an important medieval village. Travelers could spend the night here, protect themselves from thieves, sell or trade goods with profit. And the goods that were produced here, went to distant lands on the Silk Road. The town has become a link between mountains and plains.
