Lake Kol-Ukok

Jyrgalan sanatorium

Imagine stepping into a realm where the air is crisp and the sun bestows its golden touch more generously than anywhere else at similar elevations. Nestled at the mouth of the Djergalan River, just 10 kilometers northeast of Karakol and a scenic drive of 390 kilometers from Bishkek, lies the climatic-balneo-mud sanatorium "Djergalan."

Shorkul lake

To the west of Karatorpok-Keskesdala high plateau and Rangkul village, the lake is endehoric, and flows into the neighboring lake, Rangkul lake, which is about the same size, about 5km long. It fills up with snowmelt and is completely frozen over in winter. Depending on the year or the season, these two lakes can double in size.
13 km from the main M41 road, you can visit these lakes when traveling between Lake Karakul and the capital of the eastern Pamirs, Murgab.

Zarafshan River (gold-bearing)

Zarafshan is an ancient tributary of the Amu Darya, originates on the Zarafshan ridge, feeding on the meltwater of the Zarafshan glacier. It flows through the territory of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In the north-west of Uzbekistan creates a unique oasis, in the valley of which the city of Samarkand is located. It passes through the arid territories of Kattakurgan and Navoi, turns to the southwest of the country, carrying its waters through the cities of Bukhara and Karakul. It ends its journey in the desert, a little before reaching the ancient mouth of the Amu Darya.

Gontala garden

The Nepalko Sathi association set up a community garden in Gontala in 2017. This garden is not only intended to produce vegetables and fruits, but also to train the population in permaculture, mainly women, in order to achieve allotment gardens.
