Song Kul Too

The Son Kul Range is a mountain range located north of Lake Son Kul in central Kyrgyzstan. This mountain range is part of the inner Tien Shan and forms the natural border of the northern side of the Son Kul high-altitude plateau.

The range rises above the lake and creates a picturesque mountain landscape with alpine meadows, wide pastures, and steep slopes. The Son Kul Range covers the northern part of the lake and reaches its highest point at an altitude of 3,650 meters above sea level.

Due to their location and altitude, the mountains play an important role in shaping the region's climate. They protect the Son Kul plateau from cold northern winds and create conditions for rich summer pastures, where nomadic yurt camps are traditionally located. In summer, you can meet shepherds with herds of horses, sheep, and yaks here.

This area is also popular with travelers, trekkers, and horseback riders. The peaks of the ridge offer impressive panoramic views of Lake Son Kul, located at an altitude of about 3,016 meters, and the endless high-mountain steppes, which are a symbol of Kyrgyzstan's nomadic culture.
