How The Model Works

The calculator mirrors the myclimate flight method: great-circle distance, 95 km detour correction, profile-based fuel burn, class weighting, cargo allocation, fuel pre-production, aircraft and airport overheads, and the RFI multiplier of 3.

Distance model

Each leg starts with a great-circle distance and adds a fixed 95 km detour correction before the fuel function is applied.

Aircraft model

Published short-haul and long-haul coefficients are interpolated between 1,500 km and 2,500 km when no aircraft type is specified.

Climate model

The formula includes combustion, kerosene pre-production, cargo allocation, class weighting, aircraft overheads, airport infrastructure, and an RFI multiplier of 3.

Method snapshot

E = ((a × x² + b × x + c) / (S × PLF)) × (1 - CF) × CW × ((EF × M) + P) + (AF × x) + A

x = great-circle distance + 95 km. EF = 3.16, P = 0.538, M = 3, AF = 0.00034, A = 11.68.
