Kurtka (form. Jangy Talap)

Once known as Jangy Talap, the village has now taken back its historical name, Kurtka. Situated along one of the ancient Silk Road routes, Kurtka is renowned for the mausoleum of Taylak Batyr, a legendary Kyrgyz hero. The village lies at the foot of the Kurtka River, not far from the birthplace of the famous poet and thinker Togolok Moldo in the neighboring village of Ak-Tal, on the left bank of the Naryn River.

Kurtka is the starting point for memorable horseback treks of two to three days to the alpine pastures of Song Kul Lake, located just to the north. Most of the villagers live from livestock herding and small-scale farming, and every summer many families set up their yurts on the shores of Song Kul.

Thanks to its strategic location, Kurtka also serves as a crossroads between Naryn, Baetovo, and Kazarman, making it both a cultural landmark and a gateway to adventure.
