Public transport is useful only when route logic is honest
How arrivals, airports, buses, borders, roads and distances shape travel in Mongolia, especially for supported or multi-country itineraries.
Before you build the route
Transport in Mongolia is not just a timetable. Border opening hours, road surface, weather, permits, flight changes, local holidays and distance can reshape a day on the ground. Use this page for orientation; for a tour, we verify the route logic before we promise the itinerary.
Buses are the main mode of public transportation in Ulaanbaatar. There is no set schedule, but buses run stops at approximately 15-minute intervals in the capital. Buses run between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.
There is transportation between cities in Mongolia that offers buses of all sizes, from minivans to large buses (usually up to 45 seats). Buses leave from Dragon station. There is also a trolleybus system in Ulan Bator.
