On the roof of Central Asia, this small village is the main place of the Pamir. A territory bigger than Switzerland, which is populated by Pamiris and Kyrgyz nomads. Murghab is a place founded by Russian in 1893 as the most advanced military post in Central Asia at the altitude of 3650 meters, and count today about 4000 inhabitants. It located at the junction of the Pamir Highway (M41) and the Murghab River.
