Description
Shah-i-Zinda is a medieval cemetery in Samarkand and a place of pilgrimage, a collection of mausoleums of the Karakhanid and Timurid nobility. The set consists of eleven mausoleums, successively joined to each other during the 14th-15th centuries. In 2001, the entire Shah-i-Zinda Mausoleum, along with other ancient buildings in Samarkand, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
