The Uzbek history is marked by two great empires. The Persian Empire left a great legacy to the sedentary lifestyle. The Uzbek origin is unclear, but would have taken its name from a small son of Chengis Khan. Their origin could be Mongolian or Kyrgyz, but certainly nomadic. Thus the Timurid Empire creates a new territory, the greatest empire of all time, while the cities of Bukhara and Samarkand are an essential place in the Empire.
