A solidarity project for older people in Kyrgyzstan
Babushka Adoption Foundation supports vulnerable older people in Kyrgyzstan, especially those living with poverty, low pensions, and limited family support. Its work combines financial support, social care, home visits, self-help groups, humanitarian aid, leisure activities, and advocacy.
The foundation’s mission is to give love, hope, and dignity to elders affected by socio-economic hardship in Kyrgyzstan. (babushkaadoption.org)

Why Nomad’s Land supports this project
Sustainable tourism is not only about landscapes and emissions. It is also about the wellbeing of people in the places travelers visit. Supporting vulnerable elders in Kyrgyzstan is a way for travelers to contribute to social dignity and community care in Nomad’s Land’s home country.
GSTC’s tour operator standard explicitly includes community support and expects operators to record and monitor the level and nature of contributions made to local communities.
Transparency
Babushka Adoption explains that, in its sponsorship program, 80% of sponsorship money goes to the beneficiary and 20% covers running costs, including staff, communication, transport for money distribution, and social activities. It also describes sponsor reporting through photos, newsletters, financial reports, renewal notices, and status updates. (babushkaadoption.org)
