Tash Doeboe (Song Kul) - Kumdu Suu (Song Kul)

We set out from Tash Doeboe for a beautiful day of horseback riding along the southern shore of Song Kul Lake, at the foot of the majestic Bauralbas Mountains. On the way, we stop at the mysterious Tash Tulga stones, whose origins remain uncertain — perhaps remnants left by the armies of Tamerlane, or an ancient gathering site for the Turkic-Mongol peoples, who have left numerous burial sites around the lake for over two millennia.

Our trail leads us from yurt to yurt, offering opportunities to meet nomadic families and observe their traditional way of life. This part of the lake, more remote and less visited, is also a peaceful haven for migratory birds.

By the end of the day, we cross the Song Kul River via the lake’s only bridge before reaching a shepherds’ camp in the Kumdu Suu valley. Dinner and overnight stay in a yurt — a serene evening immersed in nomadic life.
