Fauna and Flora

The "Kyrghyz-Ata" nature park is located in the basin of the river of the same name, descending from the northern slope of the Kichik-Alai ridge, at a distance of about 40 km from the town of Osh along the road leading to the village of Iski-Naukat. On all sides the valley is surrounded by amazingly beautiful peaks of the Kichik-Alai ridges covered with snow caps. The rocks are composed of limestone with outcrops of multicolored marble. The total area is 11,172 hectares.

Kulunatin national reserve is located in the Kashura Too range in Osh region. It covers the territory of Ferghana range and was established in 2004 and covers about 27 thousand hectares. The Kulun (Kulung) lake is the pearl of the reserve. Landscape and biodiversity are remarkable.

The Karatal-Japyryk Nature Reserve was established in 1994 and has a total area of 190.3 km². The reserve is somewhat unusual among the protected areas of Kyrgyzstan in that it consists of three non-contiguous sections geographically very isolated from each other.

Kara-Shoro State Natural National Park is a park in Kyrgyzstan created in August 1996 of 14,340.2 hectares. The aim of the park is the conservation of the natural biotope, including geological formations, hydrological regimes, flora and fauna and endangered species. The Kara-Shoro (Yassy or Jassy) river crosses the central part of the park.

400 km from Bishkek or 60 km from Karakol, the old physical and geological station is situated in the gorge of Chong Kyzyl Suu at 2600 meter alt. It’s very good place for acclimatation or BC before to climb surrounding peaks of the Terskey Alatoo.

The state natural Ala-Archa park — Kyrgyzstan of 2280 hectares, located in 41 km from Bishkek on a northern slope of the Kyrgyz Ala-Too at the height of 1600-4860 m. Begins with the high center of the Kyrgyz Ala-Too and stretches to the North to the Ala-Archinsky gorge

Landscapes of foothill steppes and the mountain woods where more than 600 species of the higher plants, including 70 species of trees and bushes, about 50 species of herbs grow, there are a lot of melliferous herbs and tannic plants.

Le parc national de Besh-Tash se trouve dans la vallée de Talas au sud de sa capitale Talas. Inauguré en 1996 afin de préserver les biotopes uniques et la diversité biologique du nord-ouest du Kirghizistan. Dans le parc il y a plus de 800 espèces de plantes, dont environ 28 arbres et arbustes. On y trouve les animaux et les oiseaux suivants : Chevreuil, le renard, la martre, l'hermine, la perdrix bartavelle, le léopard des neiges, lynx Turkestan, Kumai, faucon sacré, vautour barbu (Gypaethe) et autres.

The Chatkal valley follows the mountain chain of the same name, to the north-west of this chain, over a length of 160km before flowing into the Charvak dam in Uzbekistan. By road, there are only 2 accesses, either by Talas to the north and the Kara-Bura Ashuu pass located at 3302m. alt .; or from the south, via the Chapchyma Ashuu pass 2841m. alt. when arriving from the town of Kerben.

The capital is the village of Kanysh-Kyya, and the lower part of the valley is in the Besh-Aral nature reserve.

This park encompasses the entire Chong Kemin Valley. There are many trails still virgin or almost. Several passes between Issyk Kul Lake or Kitchi Kemin Valley.

The total area is 126,514 hectares. Here in the park the river Chon Kemin flows. More than 780 species of plants grow and rare mammals such as snow leopard, brown bear, maral, Eurasian lynx, golden eagle, himalayan griffon vulture (Gyps himalayensis),  bearded vulture (Gypaetus barbatus), saker falcon and sablefly are found.

This highland is the habitat of wild sheep Marco Polo, Ibex, snow leopard and ... as local hunters said, the snowman.
