Sudurpashchim is far west in distance and in rhythm: Terai heat around Dhangadhi, Mahakali border movement, Khaptad pastures, Shuklaphanta grassland and high roads toward Api-Saipal. Families, workers, pilgrims and traders keep the routes alive.

Koshi carries Nepal's famous high-altitude image, but its eastern identity also belongs to Ilam tea gardens, Rai and Limbu hill country, Halesi and Pathibhara pilgrimage roads, Biratnagar plains and Koshi Tappu wetlands. The east changes climate fast.

Karnali asks for respect before excitement. Surkhet, Jumla, Rara, Dolpo and Humla are tied by airstrips, rough roads, river valleys, mule loads and seasonal work. Access can improve, fail or change overnight; the journey must leave room for that.

Madhesh travels by flat roads, train lines, ponds and market lanes rather than mountain trails. Janakpur, Dhanusha, Birgunj and the Maithili-speaking countryside show Nepal's Terai as agriculture, pilgrimage, border trade, painted walls and monsoon heat.

Bajura works at district scale. Martadi, Kolti, Budhinanda and Badimalika sit in a landscape of steep roads, seasonal access, school paths, markets and pilgrimage meadows. The interest is not remoteness; it is how people keep moving through changing seasons.

Lumbini works through pilgrimage and movement: monks, families, guides, truck drivers and traders share the plains around Rupandehi, Kapilvastu and the Indian border. Palpa climbs above the heat, while Bardiya and river country pull the province west.

Bagmati is Nepal's central hinge: Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur set the urban rhythm, while Rasuwa, Sindhupalchok and Chitwan pull journeys toward Langtang trails, river roads and lowland heat. The first mountain day often begins in city dust.

Gandaki is the province of lodges, trailheads and hard choices: drive or walk, climb or wait, follow the Marsyangdi or cross toward the Kali Gandaki. Pokhara softens the start, but Manang, Mustang and Thorong La make every itinerary answer to altitude.
