Samarkand Region carries one of Central Asia’s heaviest names, but its strength reaches beyond ceremony. Urgut market, bread ovens, workshops, village roads, universities, rail links and Zarafshan Valley farms keep imperial memory inside daily life.

Namangan Region is the valley’s northern shoulder, where Namangan city, Chust craft, Pap transport links and foothill settlements change the rhythm before the road rises toward Kamchik. It feels busier than rural, but less compressed than Andijan.

Bukhara Region is best read beyond the polished center. Courtyards, neighborhood lanes, guesthouses, Kagan’s railway approach, Gijduvan ceramics and the oasis water system show why Bukhara became valuable and why it still works as a lived place.

Shahrisabz is only one door into Qashqadaryo Region. Qarshi, the engineered steppe, Muborak energy work, Kitab foothills, orchards, pilgrimage routes and roads toward the Hissar mountains give the province a tougher southern texture than heritage copy suggests.

Jizzakh Region sits between the Tashkent-Samarkand corridor, steppe agriculture, Arnasay lake country and the mountain villages around Zaamin. It is a transition zone where railway movement, fields and foothill travel change the pace of central Uzbekistan.

Tashkent Region is the capital’s working hinterland: Chirchiq industry, Parkent wine roads, Charvak reservoir weekends, Chimgan and Beldersay slopes, Ugam-Chatkal valleys and commuter towns all sit close to Uzbekistan’s largest urban center.

Khorezm Region is often entered through Khiva, but Urgench, lower Amu Darya agriculture, canal villages, courtyard houses and roads toward Karakalpakstan give the region its wider shape. The walled city matters more when the living plain around it is visible.

Karakalpakstan is Uzbekistan’s autonomous republic in the far west, where Nukus, the Amu Darya delta, Muynak, Ustyurt and the exposed Aral Sea bed demand restraint. The region is about people living with environmental change, not disaster scenery.
