Samarkand is famous for its surprisingly long history - it is one of the oldest cities in the world, founded 8 centuries BC. In the old days, this city was the most important point connecting East and West, and the Silk Road passed through Samarkand. Therefore, here, as nowhere else, a huge number of cultural and historical monuments have been preserved - such as mausoleums, museums, mosques, the ruins of ancient settlements and much more.

Samarkand was proclaimed in 2001 by UNESCO crossroads of cultures and world heritage site.

Uzgen is one of the oldest cities in the country, having been founded, according to Chinese chronicles, more than two thousand years ago in the 2nd century BC as a market village and supply point on the route from the Ferghana Valley to Kashgar.

In the 12th century, it became the second capital (under the name Mavarannahr) at the end of the Turkish Karakhanid dynasty, and its monuments are considered unique from a historical and cultural perspective.

Blocked in the Central Tien Shan, the town was built during soviet times. If the town has no charm, the landscape is just unbelievable. Red cliffs are surrounding the main city of the Naryn's Oblast.

The town of Toktogul is located in the district of Jalal-Abad, Kyrgyzstan, along the dam Toktogul. The Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek, is 280 km north and Osh, the second largest city in Kyrgyzstan, 400km south. Located in west of the chain of the Tian Shan, the Toktogul valley has a long history. Its location along the river Naryn and surrounded by mountains allowed to easily defend against attacks and withstand natural disasters. With its abundant nature, the 7-4 centuries BC, the valley was home on his land Scythian warrior tribes.

Osh, the second largest city of the Kyrgyz republic, is one of the oldest settlements of Central Asia. It is located in southwestern Kyrgyzstan near the Uzbekistan border in the eastern section of the Fergana Valley. This one of the Central Asia's most interesting cities because of its long history, dating back as least to the 5th century BC - its position as an important crossroads for Silk Road trade and its huge market. For centuries it was a major silk-production center, strategically situated on a trade route to India.

Kyzyl-Kiya is a city of the Oblast of Batken founded in 1898 by the armies of the tsar for the exploitation of coal, it takes the status of city in 1938. The name means "Red Road" referring to the color of the mountains relatives. Its population is over 50,000 inhabitants. It is 150 km from Batken and 86 km from Osh. The city has no particular attraction but is located at the entrance of a long valley called Isfayram which leads to the peaks of Petit Alay.

Kochkor is a town of shepherds located in Naryn oblast 200 km from Bishkek. It is located at 1800m. alt. The city has 17,000 residents. Most of them are shepherds or farmers. With the Kyrgyz hospitality, tourism is an increasingly important for economy. It is a starting point to reach the sights as Lake Song Kul, Sarala-Saz pastures, Lake Koelykoek, the salt mine Chong Tuz, and also the crossroads between Issyk Kul lake and City Naryn. Places for visiting: the women cooperative "Kochkor Kutu" which develops Kyrgyz crafts.

At the eastern tip of Lake Issyk-Kul, Karakol is a fertile garden town of wooden chocolate-box cottages and shady, poplar-lined avenues. Fringed to the east by the Terskey Ala-Too Mountains, which tower dramatically over its low-rise skyline, Issyk-Kul ripples 10 km to the west.

The city of Cholpon Ata is located on the northern shore of Lake Issyk Kul, 265 km east of Bishkek. There are about 11 000 inhabitants.

The city is known for its sandy beach, seaside resorts and hosts many tourists in the summer. Tourists come mainly from countries of the former USSR.

Batken is a clean, big city in the south-west of Kyrgyzstan. In 1934 Batken was formed as the village and the district center of the eponymous district of Batken. Later, it was converted into the administrative center of the Batken region and officially received the status of city. About 23 thousand people live on the territory of the city.
