Gorno-Badakhshan

Yamg village is situated 5 km northeast from Yamchun village in the Wakhan corridor, on the tajik side. Yamg is home of Mubarek Kadam Wakhani, a sufi religious poet, philosoph, musician and astronomer. Wakhani lived from 1839 to 1903. Don’t miss the solar calendar for determining Navruz festival's date, just outside the museum. Admission fee is 10 TJS.

Vanj village and district are located in central Tajikistan. These mountains are made up of conglomerates, granites, sandstones, steep slopes, gorges and narrow river valleys. In some places, the mountains are over 6000 meters above sea level. The Vanj region is a seismically unstable area. Almost every week there are tremors. Long ago, this region was inhabited by people speaking Iranian. In ancient times, it was called "the land of the Saks", in the Middle Ages the region was Islamized. The city was founded in 1933.

The village of Ishkashim is located in the Panj River valley, between Langar and Khorog, in the highland part of the Pamirs. It lies at an altitude of approximately 2500-2600 m, at the foot of the majestic Saparodzha Peak with a height of 5864 m

Every Saturday residents and visitors can visit the famous Afghan market. This bazaar takes place on a neutral territory - an island or strip of no-man's-land in the Panj River, and it is possible to get there without a visa.

Langar is one of the last villages in the Panj Valley in the south of the Tajik Pamirs, on the banks of the Pamir River. The village is located at an altitude between 2800 and 2850 meters, opposite the Wakhan corridor and on part of the delta of the Pamir river which here forms the Panj river. Thousands of petroglyphs have been found in this region, representing ibex, deer, yaks, hunters with their bows or even horsemen. In Langar you can see a mazar with many horns of Siberian goats and argali, where ancient religious rituals still take place (a mixture of pagan and Ismaili beliefs).

Small village above the Yashylkul's lake. The highest and coldest village in the ex-USRR. Inhabitants are mainly shepherd's and they raise mostly yaks.There are also rangers saving the snow leopard and others wild animals.

Vikhinj is a camp on high pasture in the Langar gorge, around 16km South of Irkht meteo station (Sarez lake). The site is surrounding by many lakes and 5000 meters peaks. From there you can reach the Chapdara lake in 2 days hiking.
