Kyzart - Kazarman

In the morning, we leave the village of Kyzart and begin our descent along the Jumgal River, which winds through a high plateau situated between 1,500 and 2,200 meters in altitude. Nestled between the Song-Kul mountains and the Jumgal Too range, this vast open landscape is dotted with small villages and pastures where nomads graze their livestock.

As we pass through Chaek, the district’s administrative center, the valley gradually narrows. Beyond the village of Aral, where the Jumgal meets the Kekemeren River, the scenery transforms into a breathtaking canyon. Towering red rock formations rise on either side, contrasting sharply with the lush green terraces along the riverbanks. This dramatic passage, considered one of the most beautiful in Kyrgyzstan, offers an ever-changing panorama of rugged cliffs and alpine pastures.

We continue following the Kekemeren River downstream until it merges with the powerful Naryn River. Here, the road veers southward, climbing steadily along the Naryn’s course. The landscape shifts once again—the river's color deepens, the canyons grow wider, and the sheer scale of the surroundings creates an awe-inspiring spectacle.

As the canyon opens up, we emerge onto a vast plain where Kazarman stands at its center. Though geographically located east of the Ferghana mountain range, the town belongs to the Jalal-Abad region and once played a crucial role during the Soviet era.

Upon arrival, we settle into a local guesthouse, where we enjoy a warm welcome and a home-cooked meal.
