Kazarman - Kochkor

In the morning, we depart from Kazarman and begin our journey northward, gradually ascending from the wide open steppe into the rugged mountain landscapes. The road follows the course of the Naryn River, winding through vast valleys and remote terrain. As we continue, the landscape becomes more dramatic, with towering peaks and deep canyons shaping our route.

By midday, we reach the confluence of the Naryn and Kekemeren rivers, where the road turns westward into one of Kyrgyzstan’s most spectacular landscapes. We enter the Kekemeren Canyon, a breathtaking passage of deep red cliffs and lush green pastures, where nomads graze their herds along the riverbanks. We stop along the way for a picnic, taking in the incredible contrasts of color and nature.

After lunch, we continue driving along the winding canyon road, passing through small villages that dot the valley. Eventually, we reach the village of Aral, where the Kekemeren River merges with the Jumgal River. From here, the road begins to climb steadily, leading us into the wide-open Jumgal Valley.

We pass through scattered settlements and vast grazing lands as we make our way toward Kyzart village, a peaceful rural community nestled at the base of the surrounding mountains. From here, the road turns eastward, leading us through rolling hills and expansive pastures.

By late afternoon, we arrive in Kochkor, a lively town known for its traditional felt-making and connection to nomadic culture. We settle into our guesthouse and enjoy a well-earned rest after a full day of travel through some of Kyrgyzstan’s most stunning landscapes.
