Khujand - Tashkent

The 40km drive west from Khujand passes through the fertile Fergana Valley before reaching the Tajik border post at Oybek (expect 30 mins-2 hours for formalities). After crossing the Syr Darya river into Uzbekistan's Bekobod, the landscape transforms as you speed along smoother roads past cotton fields toward Tashkent (120km, 2.5 hours). While the journey only takes about half a day, it offers fascinating contrasts - from Tajikistan's rugged charm to Uzbekistan's more polished infrastructure, with echoes of Silk Road history along the way.
