Ride at the foot of Lenin peak 7134m

In the morning, we leave the mountainous village of Arslanbob, famous for its vast natural walnut forests that cover the surrounding hills. The road gradually descends from the cool mountainous landscapes to the fertile plains of the Ferghana Valley, passing through orchards, small villages, and cultivated fields that reveal the agricultural richness of southern Kyrgyzstan.

Our first stop is the city of Jalal-Abad, an important regional center known for its lively markets and multicultural atmosphere influenced by both Kyrgyz and Uzbek traditions. We take time to walk around the bustling bazaar district and discover the daily rhythm of the city before continuing our journey through the fertile valley.

A short drive takes us to Uzgen, one of the historical gems of the region and a former trading town on the Silk Road. There, we visit the remarkable medieval complex composed of an elegant minaret and several Karakhanid mausoleums decorated with intricate brick patterns. These monuments, dating from the 11th and 12th centuries, offer a fascinating insight into the architectural and cultural heritage of Central Asia.

In the afternoon, we reach the southern capital of the country, Osh. The highlight of the visit is the sacred mountain of Sulaiman-Too, an impressive limestone hill rising in the middle of the city and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A walk along its trails leads to several small shrines and viewpoints, offering a panoramic view of Osh and the surrounding Ferghana Valley.

In the morning, we break camp and begin our ascent towards the Kosh Moinok Pass, located at the base of the majestic Ming Teke Peak, which rises to 4,114 meters above sea level. The climb is steep, but the descent towards the Kitchi Alay Valley is gentler. After a well-deserved lunch, we continue our journey by following the Kitchi Alay River upstream, then turn into the North Sary Mogol Valley. The trail becomes steeper as we progress. We set up camp for the night after passing the last farms.

In the morning, departure from Och and head northeast. After a journey through the Ferghana Valley, a stop is made in Uzgen, an ancient caravan city on the Silk Road. The lively bazaar is explored, where fragrant spices, dried fruits, and local crafts are mingled, followed by a visit to the Uzgen mausoleums, magnificent remnants from the Karakhanid era, bearing witness to the region's rich historical past.

The journey continues towards Jalal-Abad, a town nestled at the foot of the mountains, where a pause is taken to enjoy a typical lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, the ascent towards the Ferghana Range begins, taking a spectacular road that leads to the Kaldama Pass (3,000 m). From there, the landscape changes dramatically: the road winds through wild and isolated valleys, offering magnificent panoramas of the surrounding mountains. 

A long descent towards the arid plain of Kazarman is then begun, crossing pastures where nomadic shepherds raise their herds. By the end of the day, Kazarman is reached, where accommodation is arranged with local hosts within the community-based tourism network. Dinner and overnight stay in Kazarman.

In the morning, we depart from Kazarman and follow the course of the Naryn River, making our way toward the village of Karabulun. After crossing the river, we ascend into the scenic Karakayn Gorge, where the road winds along the base of the Moldo Too mountain range. We then begin our climb over the Moldo Pass (3,200 m), offering breathtaking views before descending toward one of Kyrgyzstan’s most iconic natural wonders—Song-Kul Lake, the pearl of nomadic culture and a true jewel of the Tien Shan mountains.

This remote alpine lake, sitting at 3,016 meters above sea level, serves as a summer haven for Kyrgyz shepherds who continue their ancestral way of life, bringing their livestock to graze on the lush mountain pastures. As we approach the lake, we pass numerous yurts, surrounded by grazing cattle, goats, and sheep, offering a glimpse into the timeless traditions of the Kyrgyz people.

Upon arrival at Tash Doeboe, a local area by the lake, we take the opportunity to explore on foot, walking from yurt to yurt to experience the daily lives of nomadic families. We witness the deep connection between people and their horses, a relationship that embodies the harmony between humanity and nature. The surrounding mountains are also home to ancient petroglyphs, adding a historical dimension to this breathtaking setting.

We spend the night in a traditional yurt, fully immersed in the tranquility of Song-Kul.
