Description

This two-day journey along the legendary Pamir Highway (M41) takes you from Osh to the remote town of Murghab in the Tajik Pamirs, crossing some of the most spectacular high-mountain landscapes in Central Asia. On the first day, you travel through the colorful Gulcho Canyon and the wide Kyzyl-Suu Valley of the Alay region, before spending the night in the village of Sary Mogol, beneath the towering Lenin Peak.

On the second day, you cross the dramatic Kyzyl-Art Pass into Tajikistan, descend to the shimmering Lake Karakul, and climb again over the Ak-Baital Pass (4,655 m), the highest point of the road, before arriving in Murghab, the cultural and administrative heart of the Eastern Pamirs. Regardless of your visa status (visa-free or with a Tajik visa), a GBAO permit is absolutely required to enter this autonomous region.
